"Barged-in" House! Check out Martha Vaughan’s newest addition to her rental homes!

On December 18, 2017, a gorgeous rental home owned my Martha Vaughan accidentally caught fire. Although no one was in the home at the time of the fire, it was still devastating. After much effort by local firefighters, the house burned to the ground with no hope of being salvaged. Several years passed and Martha waited for the perfect moment to rebuild. As you can see, she decided to “rescue” a home for her gorgeous property instead of rebuilding!

Martha Vaughan’s passion is rescuing animals that are headed for terrible fates such as slaughterhouses. Between Fox-Bell Weddings & Events and Fox-Bell Farm, Martha estimated she has 50 rescue horses and many other rescue animals such as goats, dogs, a turkey, and 2 pigs! She was devastated when her beautiful rental home caught fire considering the profit went directly to rescuing and housing these animals. “Since the initial shock, I’ve been working on (replacing the house) ever since,” she said. “I’m a huge rescuer. This makes so much sense for it not to be demolished and not in a landfill.”

On the night of June 8, 2022, Martha’s new “rescue” house made it across the water to its new home! This amazing transfer took many hours with the help of many crew members not to mention all the permits needed to make this adventure happen. Martha said, “I had to jump through many hoops, but I made it.”

Over the next year Martha will be living in this home as she remodels it with the help of Brian Pace and other amazing people. She hopes to open it back up for rentals within the next year with profits going towards her rescue animals!

Stay tuned for more updates on the “Barged-in” Home. We are excited for this journey and love all those who support us and our mission!
